The transport lexicon
Company logistics
In the study of Business Management, the term "logistics" is defined as the scheduling, management, execution and control of the physical flow of goods and of the associated flow of information, throughout the entire value added chain of a company. Company logistics thus serve as a link between production and consumption. Logistics tasks are basically present in every company - regardless of branch. Companies that operate in the logistics branch specialise, in contrast, on the physical flow of goods. As service providers for other companies, they take on these and other associated tasks, particularly the transportation of goods.
